Who are the Queens of Cyprus?

Queens of Cyprus is a documentary that puts the women of Cyprus in the limelight, sharing the global power of Cypriot women active around the world, of all ages and backgrounds. Produced by UK-based non-profit organisation LGK, the documentary will have its first Cyprus screening this Sunday.

The University of Limassol and the Lakis Greek Kitchen organisation (LGK) present two documentary evenings. The premiere screening will take place on Sunday at the Latsia Municipal Theatre in Nicosia at 7pm, held under the auspices of the Commissioner for Gender Equality Josie Christodoulou.

The documentary highlights the achievements of Cypriot women in all areas of life, interviewing women of all backgrounds regardless of age, religion or nationality. Among the interviewees First Lady Philippa Karsera and global model Sofia Hadjipanteli. All of the stories tell a tale of resilience and courage and depict the ways in which these women express their love for their homeland.

While shining a light on womanhood, the documentary also serves as a call to action by featuring men advocating for fundamental human rights and fighting for a better future and inclusive society. After the Nicosia screening this weekend, the documentary will also be screened in front of Limassol audiences on September 4 at Ypsonas Municipal Theatre.
