Heat continues, break comes this weekend

Central Ohio Weather and Radar

A broad area of high pressure in the Central states continues to bring the heat, with scattered clouds and a few storms. Temperatures reached the mid-90s for the fifth day in a row in central Ohio, but it felt like it was close 100 degrees with the humidity.

Skies will be partly cloudy tonight, with morning readings near 70 degrees.

A weak front near the Ohio River will shift north and wash out, resulting in another day with a southerly flow of hot, humid air and isolated storms. Temperatures will hit the mid- to upper 90s one more time to close out the workweek, with a heat index near or slightly above 100.

A few showers and storms are likely Saturday, which will hold readings in the mid-80s. Rain chances will diminish during the OSU-Akron game as the front pushes of to the east. The kickoff temperature will be around 84 degrees, with generally cloudy skies.

Sunday will be on the warm side, but with a good deal of sunshine and slightly lower humidity. Afternoon temperatures will be in the mid-80s. Some clouds will develop in the afternoon, and an isolated shower is possible toward sunset with a secondary cold front.

Much cooler weather and less humid weather will arrive for Labor Day. A northwesterly flow of dry, pleasant air will be with us through the first week of September, with a gradual warm-up. Temperatures will mainly range from the upper 70s to low 80s, under mostly sunny skies.
