CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — A second Cleveland County Detention Center inmate has died in the span of one week after an attempted suicide.
The CCDC says 49-year-old Nicole Deann McComb returned to her cell after a phone call with her mother at 12:39 p.m. on Wednesday. Nine minutes later, detention officers found McComb hanging from the top bunk in her cell, with a piece of blanket tied into a noose.
McComb reportedly did not appear to be in distress during site checks that day prior to the incident.
After being taken to the hospital where medical staff restored a pulse, McComb was placed on life support. When staff found she had no brain activity, they removed McComb from life support around 1:15 p.m. on Thursday.
McComb is the second reported inmate death at the CCDC this week. 58-year-old Daniel Edward Freeman died following a suicide attempt in his cell on Sunday evening. She was booked into the CCDC on Friday, August 23, on drug trafficking charges.
