Red Sox Recall Nick Sogard As Speedy Infielder Heads To IL
The Boston Red Sox made an injury-related infield swap on Thursday prior to their series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Infielder Nick Sogard is back in the big leagues after Boston placed David Hamilton on the 10-day injured list with a left index finger fracture, per a team release.
Hamilton injured his finger during Wednesday's win over the Blue Jays while attempting to bunt a pitch. The infielder hit .248 in 98 games this season while pressuring opponents on the base paths with 33 stolen bases.
Sogard made his MLB debut with the Red Sox on Aug. 2 and scored nine runs in 12 games during his first stint with Boston.
The Red Sox go for the series victory over the Blue Jays on Thursday night. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. ET. You can catch the game, plus an hour of pregame coverage, on NESN.
