India’s Barinder Sran Announces Retirement from All Forms of Cricket
Barinder Sran, a left-arm seamer who represented India in six ODIs and two T20Is in 2016, declared on Thursday that he was quitting all forms of cricket.
The 31-year-old Sran made his announcement on social media, stating that it was “right” for him to retire.
“As I officially hang up my cricket boots, I look back at my journey with a heart full of gratitude. Since switching from boxing in 2009, cricket has gifted me innumerable and incredible experiences,” he wrote on an Instagram post.
During the 2015–16 Australian tour, Sran made his debut in Perth. Later in the middle of 2016, he featured in two Twenty20 international matches for India.
In his six ODIs, he claimed seven wickets, while in two T20Is, he claimed six wickets.
“My fast bowling quickly turned into a lucky charm and allowed me to play for elite IPL teams, leading to my ultimate achievement of representing India in 2016.” (sic)”
“Even though my international career was brief, the memories created will be forever cherished. I am eternally grateful to the almighty for getting me the right coaches and management, who have supported me throughout my journey,” he added.
“And I think this is the right time to retire from international and domestic cricket, I would also like to thank @pcacricketassociation and BCCI for their support,” (sic) he said.
Sran participated in 24 IPL games between 2015 and 2019, taking 18 wickets for the Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Sran’s final domestic match came in the Punjab team’s 2020–21 Vijay Hazare Trophy match versus Madhya Pradesh. In 18 First-Class matches, 31 List-A games, 48 T20s, and another 31 games, he got 47 wickets.
