LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Two people were arrested in Lafayette by U.S. Marshals in connection with a shooting in Maurice June 24, authorities said.

Robert Sinegal Jr., 39, of Abbeville and Gabrielle Duhon, 24, were arrested after an investigation that involved Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals Service.

On June 24, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Lafayette Police Department that a shooting victim had been found in their jurisdiction after losing consciousness while attempting to drive to the hospital. Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived on scene to assist Lafayette Police Department, and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital.

With first aid provided by the Lafayette Police Department and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, the victim was able to make it to the hospital without suffering any severe complications, authorities said.

After being admitted to the hospital and treated for the injury, the victim was interviewed by Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives. Investigators said the unidentified victim, Sinegal and Duhon were all in a vehicle in Maurice when Sinegal allegedly shot the victim, and Sinegal and Duhon fled the scene.

Arrest warrants were obtained for Sinegal and Duhon. Officials said Sinegal’s criminal history reflected a pattern of violent crimes, so the U.S. Marshals Service was contacted to assist, according to VPSO.

Sinegal and Duhon were both arrested Monday in Lafayette by the U.S. Marshals Service without incident, officials said.

Sinegal remains incarcerated at the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center on a charge of attempted second-degree murder with a bond of $300,000. Duhon remains in the custody of the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on other charges. She will be transported to VPCC upon completion of her custody there on a charge of accessory to attempted second-degree murder.
