United Way hosts Duncan BBQ Showdown

DUNCAN, Okla. (KFOR) - The United Way of Stephen County is prepping for its 7th Annual BBQ Showdown will be raising money for 15 local non-profits in the City of Duncan.

The City of Duncan residents can expect competition to come from backyard cookers to BBQ Pit Masters in a friendly non-sanctioned competition. According to event organizers, an average of 12 teams all vying for the coveted “People’s Choice” award and the $250.00 1st place prize money for each meat category.

Entries for the BBQ Showdown include Beef Brisket, Pork Butt, Pork Ribs, and Chicken Thighs.
Also being judged are sides such as beans and desserts.

Cook teams are encouraged to enter up to August 31, 2024.

Wristbands are $10 for adults and $5 for Children (10 and under). Wristbands include samples from each team while it lasts and is to be eaten on site. Kiddieland will be open for children with wristbands only from noon to 2:00 p.m.
