Their last album, Roaring 20s, came out in 2013 as the follow-up to 2011’s Stereo Typical.

Speaking about Javelin and hinting at the project, bandmates Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule said: “We wrote Javelin in a family home in a good place and open-hearted.

“It was the first time we worked with Swindle alongside Ant Whiting.

“Ant was already fam, Swindle is now too.

“Javelin has essentially informed the direction of the album.

“Spearhead, that is. It’s a statement of intent.

“Guaranteed to lift spirits. That’s what we’re here to do.

“We feel as though that’s our lane. Most of the time.”

During their original run, they were best known for songs including Down With The Trumpets, Mama Do The Hump and Lost Generation.

They lead a bumper day for new releases, as James Bay is releasing his single Easy Distraction, which was written with The Killers’ Brandon Flowers.

Eurovision’s Bambie Thug is dropping a song called Hex So Heavy, Mabel is back with her tune Chat and girl group FLO are showing off their vocals on Bending My Rules.

In the dance world, Faithless are paying tribute to their late bandmate Maxi Jazz with I’m Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell) while Andy C and Becky Hill have teamed up for Indestructible.

And for something entirely different, John Legend has released an album of lullabies and sing-a-longs for kids called My Favourite Dream.
