Mariners Moose Tracks, 8/29/24: Rhett Lowder, Marco Gonzales, and the Modesto Nuts
I can’t help but be bummed it didn’t work out for Marco this season.
Good morning everyone! It’s time to kick off your Mariners off-day with some news from around baseball.
In Mariners news...
- Appearing on the Marine Layer Podcast, Seattle Times beat writer Ryan Divish gave some intel on the Scott Servais firing and warned Mariners fans that an ugly winter could be on the horizon.
- In some positive news, the Modesto Nuts agreed to a one-year extension with the city to keep the club in town through at least 2025.
- Victor Robles is the best!

- Pirates left-hander Marco Gonzales will undergo flexor tendon surgery, taking him out for the rest of the season and likely most of 2025.
- This is certainly the best First Fetch of the season.

- Ben Clemens at Fangraphs chronicled the breakout of Rays right-handed reliever Edwin Uceta.
Anders’ picks...
- I just love this cyclist casually refusing to stop or even slow down as a tree falls in front of them.
Dramatic video captured the moment a tree came crashing down and nearly hit a cyclist as thunderstorms hit Milwaukee on Tuesday. The cyclist was okay. pic.twitter.com/BHGwgdhWZO
