The journalist – now at Sky News – revealed to fans he was paid just over £50k[/caption]

However, the journalist announced last year he was leaving the corporation after a decade.

And now Gareth has revealed his exact salary for the highly esteemed role.

Replying to a question from a fan on social media, he told how BBC execs paid him just over £50,000.

He said: “I won’t comment on my current situation as Sky itself has a right to privacy with regards to its commercial contracts.

“However, the BBC is publicly funded so I’ll share those details. When I left my staff position in 2021 I was an SBJ-senior broadcast journalist.

“I was paid just over £50,000 a year. I did do some overtime to earn some more.”

Gareth’s take home pay is a stark comparison to some of his former colleagues who earn significantly more.

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty is paid between £345,000 – £349,999 while the now disgraced Huw Edwards earned £475,000 – £479,999 annually.

The latest report also revealed Fiona Bruce pulls in £405,000 – £409,999 but Gary Linekar is the most paid with an eye-watering £1,350,000 – £1,354,999.

Gareth, 34, now hosts Sky News Breakfast alongside broadcaster stalwart Kay Burley.
