LISBON – Europalco, the provider of solutions for events and shows in Southern Europe, leveraged the power of Kuka robot to create a truly memorable experience at the prestigious 36th Deloitte IRGAwards 2024. Held at the iconic Carlos Lopes Pavilion in Lisbon, the event, organized by Desafio Global, welcomed 270 distinguished guests.

This year, the IRGAwards focused on technology and artificial intelligence, creating a unique atmosphere that showcased the harmony between humans and machines. Europalco’s state-of-the-art Kuka robot played a prominent role in this narrative. The evening began with a stunning performance where a Kuka robot played the piano alongside a pianist, setting an unforgettable tone. A highlight of the event was the captivating dance performed by a Kuka robot and a professional dancer. These demonstrations showcased the impressive capabilities of modern robotics and underscored Europalco’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of event technology.

The IRGAwards 2024 stood out for its innovative use of visual and scenic elements. Of particular note was the 360-degree immersive environment that combines round screens and immersive audio. This arrangement engaged the audience and elevated the experience, making the event memorable for all attendees.

Europalco provided a full range of services for the IRGAwards, ensuring flawless execution from start to finish. Services included sound, lighting, video, cameras, stage, sets, screens, Kuka robotics, rigging/structures and furniture. For Europalco, handling all aspects of an event like this simplifies the process for everyone involved. Clients benefit from a single point of contact, eliminating the need to manage multiple suppliers. Europalco, in turn, leverages its well-coordinated teams who are highly experienced in handling complex, single-source events.

The Portuguese provider created a captivating listening experience using immersive audio technology. Expertly designed lighting enhanced the visual impact, and 11 video projectors seamlessly integrated with the content. Professional camera work captured every moment, while the custom-designed stage and set design perfectly matched the awards theme.

Eleven round screens, seven with an 8m diameter and four with a 6m diameter, created an immersive 360-degree environment. The Kuka robot stole the show with their musical and dance performances. Sturdy and secure structures supported the technical setup, while minimalist, transparent black furniture seamlessly blended into the IRGAwards aesthetics.

Europalco met the technical complexity of the event with precision and expertise. A team of 40 professionals worked tirelessly for two days to prepare. They managed intricate projection mapping with a Christie Spyder X80 video processor and two Pandoras Box Octo servers, aligning it perfectly with the audiovisual content on the round screens. This detailed planning and execution ensured a cohesive and immersive experience for attendees.

Gisela João, the distinguished Fado singer, graced the evening with her captivating performance, adding elegance and cultural richness. She mesmerized the audience with her soulful voice and emotive presence, complementing the event’s sophisticated atmosphere.

Diogo Fernandes, Europalco Project Manager, stated, “Our team prepared for this gala well in advance. We invested in training our staff and conducted rehearsals in our internal studios with the ballerina and the pianist. The truth is that more and more clients feel confident in using the Kuka robots in their events, as they see that our team is well-prepared for the challenges. In essence, all Europalco’s investments are designed to provide customers with increasingly innovative content for their events.”

Europalco has already used the Kuka robots at prestigious events in Portugal, such as the Reinvent event and the Marketeer Awards ceremony. They have also been showcased at their stand at IBTM Barcelona.

Diogo Fernandes concluded, “We thank Desafio Global for allowing us to demonstrate our commitment to excellence and our ability to seamlessly blend technology with artistry.”

The IRGAwards are an initiative that Deloitte has been promoting for over 30 years in Portugal, with the aim of rewarding people and organisations that have contributed most and best to making the capital market more efficient, transparent, socially responsible and useful to the Portuguese economy and society.
