Former India captain Virat Kohli has fallen victim to another deepfake video on social media. In the said video, generated via AI, Kohli is seen supposedly slamming India teammate and Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill.

The video, which went viral on social media, shows Virat Kohli talking about what India batter Shubman Gill lacks and how he has a ‘long way to go’. The viral video once again raised concerns over the wrong use of AI and how dangerous it is.

The edited video soon went viral on social media with Kohli saying, “I’ve been watching Gill closely, he’s talented, no doubt, but there’s a huge gap between showing promise and becoming a legend.”

Former India captain in the edited video can be heard talking about Gill’s technique. “Gill’s technique is solid, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. People talk about the next Virat Kohli, but let me be clear: there’s only one Virat Kohli,” the fake Kohli says.

Meanwhile, Gill is preparing himself to take part in the Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament which gets underway next week ahead of the India vs Bangladesh 2024 Test series. Gill has been named captain of the India ‘A’ team which also includes the likes of KL Rahul.

While Kohli moved up two rungs to 8th place and his captain Rohit Sharma dropped a spot to sixth in the latest ICC Test rankings released on Wednesday. Joining Rohit and Kohli in the top 10 is young Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has moved up a spot to seventh.

Former England captain Joe Root maintained his place as the top ranked Test batter in the world following their success in the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Manchester. But Root’s teammate Harry Brook has made a massive jump on the back of scores of 56 and 32 during that Old Trafford contest.

Both Kohli and Rohit will not be seen in action during the Duleep Trophy 2024. They are expected to be part of the Indian playing 11 in the first Test vs Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19.
