Police accuse pair
of burglary at home
Two suspects have been charged with burglarizing an apartment complex at 210 Lower Via Casitas.
Central Marin police went to the complex at about 7 p.m. Aug. 22 after a resident reporting seeing a man using a drill to steal coins from the laundry room, said Sgt. Jeff Peterson. Police arrested Rick Bonner, 54, of Marin City and an alleged accomplice, Natascha Katja Volk, 42, of San Francisco. Both were arraigned this week and remained in custody Wednesday at the Marin County Jail.
The Marin County District Attorney’s Office charged Bonner with burglary and violating his probation conditions. Bonner pleaded guilty last August to charges of burglary and vandalism stemming from a case in Novato, according to court records. Bonner also has a history of convictions dating to 1991, including robbery, burglary, forgery and drug sales, the prosecution said. He pleaded not guilty.
Volk was charged with burglary, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She pleaded not guilty.
The preliminary hearing on the evidence is scheduled for next month.

Deadlines extended
for housing project
The city has granted a time extension on the permits for a townhome development project.
The project involves 45 residences in nine buildings at 350 Merrydale Road and 3833 Redwood Highway. The developer, which was granted an extension previously, sought more time because of factors such as interest rate hikes, high construction costs, pandemic-related delays and lagging utilities arrangements, according to a staff report by Kristina Estudillo, a city planner.
The Planning Commission voted Tuesday to extend the permits until Feb. 3, 2026.
