Robbery suspect stabbed to death in Auburn Gresham gas station stickup
A man is dead after an attempted robbery at a gas station in Auburn Gresham on Wednesday morning.
A 36-year-old man was inside a gas station about 11:15 a.m. in the 7600 block of South Halsted Street when two men walked inside, grabbed him by the hair and demanded his personal property, Chicago police said.
The man pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the attackers, a 38-year-old man, in the neck, police said. A second robber, 20, then took out a gun and struck the 36-year-old in the face.
The victim ran from the gas station and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center with blunt-force trauma to his face, police said. He was in fair condition.
The two attackers also fled the gas station but were arrested by responding officers.
The man who was stabbed was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
No other injuries were reported, and a gun was recovered at the gas station, police said.
