Travis County releases November early voting sites, hours
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Travis County will have 171 Election Day voting sites and 41 early voting sites for the upcoming November election, according to a release from the Travis County Clerk's Office.
Additionally, the release confirmed a previous University of Texas at Austin voting location will be moved to another campus location. UT said the prominent Flawn Academic Center (FAC) voting location near the center of campus won't be available "due to construction and the re-design of open spaces at the FAC," according to the release.
A new voting location will be set up at the Texas Union.
Leaders of the University Democrats at UT expressed concerns about the location change at an August Travis County Commissioner's Court meeting, saying the Union’s size will result in “significantly fewer machines than the FAC.”
In an email to KXAN, a UT spokesperson previously said voting locations on campus change periodically “to balance public participation in the voting process with the University’s operations.” The spokesperson added the move to the Texas Union will allow ADA-compliant access while still being located in a centralized spot on campus.
Travis County Commissioners Court unanimously approved the list of locations.
Extended hours for early voting
Seven Travis County voting sites will be open for extended hours on the final two days of early voting, the release said. These locations will be open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
The locations, provided by the Travis County Clerk's Office, are listed below:
- Austin Permitting and Development Center
- Ben Hur Shrine
- Carver Branch Library
- Lakeway Activity Center
- Pflugerville Rock Gym
- Southpark Meadows
- UT Union
Early voting schedule
Early voting for the November election starts Monday, Oct. 21, and ends Friday, Nov. 1. Below is the early voting schedule:
- Monday, Oct. 21 – Saturday, Oct. 26, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 27, noon – 6 p.m.
- Monday, Oct. 28 – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 31 – Friday, Nov. 1, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. (The seven locations above will be open until 10 p.m. on these two days)
