MORRIS HEIGHTS, the Bronx (PIX11) --- A teen moped rider is accused of killing a man in a drive-by shooting in the Bronx earlier this month, police said Wednesday.
The 17-year-old boy allegedly shot Miguel Cruz, 47, in the head near 1600 Sedgwick Ave. and Bridge Park by the Cross Bronx Expressway in Morris Heights at around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 2, according to the NYPD.
Officers found Cruz lying on the ground. The victim was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved, police said.
The teen rode off on a moped after the incident and was arrested on Tuesday, according to the NYPD. The suspect was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
It was unclear what prompted the violence.
The incident happened in the area patrolled by the 46th Precinct, which has seen a spike in shooting incidents and shooting victims this year, compared to last year, according to NYPD data.
