Maybe Cleveland really should Do the Thing.

Top outfield prospect Chase DeLauter had his best game Tuesday since being promoted to Triple-A. The talented scissor-swinger went 3-for-5 with three doubles, a walk and three runs batted in.

Johnathan Rodriguez also had himself a game, going 3-for-5 with a walk and his 20th home run of the season.

Several other prospects had standout games. Raynel Delgado reached base safely four times, going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and a stolen base. Kyle Manzardo went 2-for-5 with a walk and Myles Straw and Bryan Lavastida both went 1-for-4 with a walk, with Straw also stealing two bases.

Starting pitcher Will Dion had a rough day, allowing six runs (two earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts and a walk in 3 23 innings.

Tanner Burns added a scoreless 1 13 innings while Andrew Walters also had a scoreless frame with a pair of strikeouts.

Akron RubberDucks 5, Bowie Baysox 3

Akron only had four hits on Tuesday, but all of them were for extra bases with three of them leaving the yard.

Cooper Ingle blasted his second home run since being promoted to Double-A while C.J. Kayfus hit his 10th, going 1-for-3 with a walk.

Yordys Valdes went 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk and two runs scored.

Starting pitcher Trenton Denholm was dominant. He allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk in seven innings.

Davis Sharpe struggled, allowing two runs in 23 of an inning, but Alaska Abney earned his first save at Double-A with 1 13 scoreless frames and two strikeouts.

Lake County Captains 5, Cedar Rapids Kernels 2 (F/6)

Wuilfredo Antunez led the way in a rain-shortened game, going 2-for-2 with a double and a two-run home run, his first since being promoted to High-A.

The only other Captain to reach base safely twice was Travis Bazzana, who went 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored.

Starting pitcher Rorik Maltrud was solid, allowing a pair of runs on four hits with six strikeouts and no walks in 4 23 innings.

Adam Tulloch earned the win with 1 13 innings of scoreless relief.

Long reliever Sean Heppner, a 12th round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, was dominant, tossing three scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Guardians 2024 18th round pick Izaak Martinez added a scoreless frame.
