TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Zoo will have free admission for a special event as part of the Gage Park Founders Fest this weekend.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, the Topeka Zoo will be open to the public while it honors the birthday of Gage Park. The zoo is asking guests to bring one non-perishable food item that will be donated to local community support organizations.

Attendees will also be able to watch a ballet performance by Ballet Midwest. At Gage Park, visitors will be able to ride the mini train and carousel rides for free, engage with a mobile museum, check out the Children's Discovery Center and buy books from the Shawnee County Public Library Bookmobile.

“We are excited to celebrate the Gage Family during the Gage Park Founders Fest with the entire community,” said Fawn Moser, Deputy Director of Topeka Zoo. “This event is a fantastic opportunity to bring families together for a day of adventure, creativity, and giving back. We are proud to offer free admission in exchange for donations of non-perishable food items, supporting those in need in our community.”
