Japan issues evacuation, emergency warnings as Typhoon Shanshan approaches

Japan on Wednesday was braced for its strongest typhoon of the year as Typhoon Shanshan approached the southern island of Kyushu. Tens of thousands of island residents have been told to evacuate the area and transportation services were suspended as authorities warned of a "major disaster".
