New water infrastructure agency gets legislative green light

President Cyril Ramaphosa has assented to the South African National Water Resources Infrastructure Agency (NWRIA) Bill, unlocking the establishment of a new State-owned company responsible for developing and managing South Africa’s water infrastructure. The new agency aims to address the current fragmentation in water resource management between the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), the Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority and the Water Trading Entity.
