Over 4,000 traffic accidents reported in Afghanistan in past year

0

The Ministry of Interior of Afghanistan has announced that over 2,000 people have died in the past year due to more than 4,000 traffic accidents in the country.

Abdul Mateen Qani, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated in a press conference on Tuesday in Kabul that “4,278 various traffic incidents occurred in the past year, resulting in 2,001 deaths and 5,996 injuries.”

Mr. Qani noted that women and children are also among the victims of these incidents.

The ministry has not provided specific details regarding the timing and causes of these incidents.

Previously, the General Directorate of Traffic had emphasized plans to implement a five-highway project to reduce these incidents.

This comes as traffic accidents have increased in various provinces of the country, causing daily casualties among many, including women and children.

The rise in traffic accidents highlights the urgent need for effective measures to improve road safety. Addressing driver negligence, non-compliance with traffic laws, excessive speed, and poor road conditions is crucial to preventing further loss of life and injury.
