Viva Empanadas celebrates grand opening in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Viva Empanadas, located at 90 North Pearl Street in Albany, celebrated its grand opening on Tuesday. The restaurant had its soft opening in July in the former The Bishop space.
This is Viva Empanadas' second location in the Capital Region. The restaurant's first location is in Latham’s Galleria 7 Market. Owner Veronica Agama originally leased a food truck for Viva Empanadas before finding the spot in Latham.
The Viva Empanadas Albany menu features empanadas, arepas, tamales, tostones, and sandwiches, as well as cocktails, beer and wine. You can view the full menu on the Viva Empanadas website.
“Latin food is diverse and really friendly to all tastes as it’s predominantly gluten free, with lots of veggies, and flavor! Across Latin America we all use the same ingredients and most of the time we make very similar dishes, we just name them very differently. I've carefully curated a menu that represents us all,” said Agama.
The gastropub The Bishop permanently closed in July 2023 after four years. Viva Empanadas is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
