Trump revives widely mocked digital trading cards as Harris gains in polls

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday once again began hawking digital trading cards of himself as polls show him losing more ground to Vice President Kamala Harris.

On his Truth Social platform, the former president posted a video in which he informed his supporters that a new batch of digital trading cards featuring cartoon versions of his likeness were now on sale.

"15 stunning all-new digital trading cards, it's really something," Trump said in the video. "These cards show me dancing, even holding some BitCoins!"

Trump then informed fans that he wasn't just selling digital cards, but would send them a physical version of one of the cards if they bought a set of 15. They sold for $99 each when Trump first unveiled them nearly two years ago.

Trump made more than $7.15 million from licensing fees from NFT International Inc., the company that marketed them.

"The cards will go FAST!" Trump wrote in a Truth Social post promoting the video.

Trump's digital trading cards were widely mocked when he first released them and even many of the former president's allies called them "cringe."

Trump's decision to revive his trading cards comes as polling averages from FiveThirtyEight show that Vice President Kamala Harris has opened up a national lead of three-and-a-half points, which is a steady expansion of the small lead she opened up after entering the presidential campaign last month.

Trump has long complained about Harris entering the race and has openly fantasized about being able to run against President Joe Biden again.
