PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Blink and you may have missed this morning's rain. A cold front is on the move throughout Oregon this morning, bringing in clouds and cooler temperatures today.

Clouds will continue to decrease throughout the mid-morning hours Tuesday. Temperatures will only make it into the low to mid 70s during the afternoon. Gusty conditions are possible after the frontal passage. That's where winds could gust to 15-20 mph during the late afternoon hours.

The mild temperature trend Oregon and Washington has seen over the last week will come to an end later this week as heat starts to rebuild.

Summer heat will quickly build around the Pacific Northwest by Thursday. That's where some temperatures could near record-breaking conditions. This warming trend comes as kids head back to school and the Oregon State Fair is well underway.

The Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end to summer start off dry and hot, but will end cloudier and cooler.

The latest warming trend only lasts through Saturday before highs return to the mid to upper 80s Sunday. A light rain shower or two is possible by Labor Day Monday, but will likely remain dry. Temperatures will likely stabilize near average conditions for the first week of September.
