Arrest warrant for 64-year-old after teen girls arrested

An arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday against the 64-year-old who claimed he had been assaulted and robbed by a group of young people last week in Limassol.

Police have also obtained arrest warrants for the two young men allegedly accompanying the teenage girls, aged 15, 16 and 18, previously arrested.

Philenews reported that the case has now been split in two – one of robbery and the other for offences investigated against the 64-year-old in relation to the girls, which the police HQ department on vulnerable individuals is now investigating.

The 64-year-old is being investigated for offences related to sexual abuse and sexual harassment of a minor, indecent assault and abduction of a minor without parental consent.

Police expect to make the arrests within the day.

The two girls initially arrested, aged 15 and 16, are being treated as vulnerable individuals and are under the observation of a psychiatrist called in by the police.

They are expected to give videotaped testimonies on what happened.

Philenews sources said any delays so far, it has been four days since the first girl was arrested, were to secure a testimony involving the 64-year-old, to obtain a court arrest order.

The 18-year-old arrested later is alleged to have been one of a group arriving at the scene in a car, after the 64-year-old man was lured around the back of a fast-food restaurant.

The 64-year-old reported he was punched in the face, and that his wallet, which contained €5,000 in cash and his identity card, was stolen.
