NYC programs could save you money on housing, food, child care, taxes

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A variety of programs are available in New York City to help people save money on housing, food, child care, taxes, and other basic needs.

Mayor Eric Adams on Monday launched the “Money in Your Pocket” initiative, which aims to help people take advantage of more than 70 city, state, and federal programs that can help make living in New York City more affordable.

The Adams administration will be sending out hundreds of city employees to more than 20 underserved neighborhoods and NYCHA buildings to help thousands of New Yorkers find out which benefits they may be eligible to receive through the various programs.

“We want every New Yorker to have access to the benefits that can make life more affordable and equitable and that is why our dedicated team will be meeting people where they are to ensure that no one is left behind,” said Camille Joseph Varlack, the mayor’s chief of staff.
