Van de Ven insists Tottenham star showed great ‘responsibility’ after a tough week
Micky van de Ven praised Yves Bissouma for showing ‘responsibility’ after being suspended by the club for the clash against Leicester.
Bissouma let the club down last week
Bissouma decided to post a video of him inhaling laughing gas on social media a week before the start of the season, with Spurs taking the decision to suspend the midfielder for their Premier League opener.
While Ange Postecoglou refrained from criticising the 27-year-old too much in public, he did make it clear that the Mali international would have to work hard to earn back his trust (BBC Sport).
Bissouma seemingly did just that last week, with Postecoglou deciding to hand the midfielder a start against Everton.
The former Brighton man repaid his manager’s faith, delivering what was arguably one of his best performances in a Spurs shirt, which included an outstanding strike from the edge of the box to give his side the lead in the first half.
Micky Van de Ven impressed by Bissouma
Van de Ven revealed that in the week leading up to the game, the midfielder exhibited very good behaviour, accepting responsibility for his mistake.
The centre-back told The Standard: “Biss gave a really good performance, but you’ll have to ask the gaffer if it’s all finished now, He showed a really good responsibility this week.”

The situation was handled well by the club and by Postecoglou.
Everyone would have drawn a line under the incident and moved on, although it is clear that Bissouma cannot afford another similar slip-up in the future.
