Red Sox Wrap: Boston Wastes Nick Pivetta’s Outing In Historic Continuation
The Boston Red Sox preluded a four-series with the Toronto Blue Jays by completing the continuation of their June 26 matchup in a 4-1 loss.
With the loss, Boston falls to 67-63 while Toronto improves to 64-68.

Boston and Toronto made some history on Monday.
Danny Jansen became the first player in MLB history by playing for both teams given he was at the plate for the Blue Jays when the game was suspended back in June.
After that, pitching became the story of the day, particularly for the Red Sox. Nick Pivetta entered in a relief outing after Kutter Crawford originally started the game. With the exception of a solo home run from George Springer, Pivetta was exceptional. The Boston right-hander struck out 10 batters across six innings while allowing just four hits.
Unfortunately for Pivetta, the Red Sox offense could not find any rhythm against a bullpen game for the Blue Jays as manager John Schneider matched up his way through the order. Boston's bullpen faltered at the wrong time with wild-card contenders taking advantage with a win in Cleveland from the Kansas City Royals.
