New York City affordable housing lotteries: Some homes under $200K

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Renting an apartment in New York City is about as expensive as ever; the same is said for owning a home in the Big Apple.

The New York City affordable housing lottery has options available for New Yorkers to own a home for less than $200,000 in some cases.

Here are three affordable lotteries to own a home but apply fast as some expire soon:

Union Avenue Apartments

Three buildings in the Bronx are part of the Union Avenue Apartments at 993 and 995 Union Ave. Five units are available in the lottery, which expires on Aug. 26. Two of the units are two-bedrooms, two are three-bedrooms and the last unit is a four-bedroom home. The estimated sale prices are around $106,000 to about $137,000, with eligible income being $61,633 to $195,660. For more information, click here.

With studio and one-bedroom units available, the person who wins this lottery must use the unit as their primary address, according to Housing Connect. The eligible income for this lottery is $79,869 to $154,080, and the estimated sale price is $237,666 to $267,588, depending on the unit.
