The cricketer also expressed deep gratitude to his wife Ansha, whom he described as the ‘support system’ of their small family, acknowledging the ‘pain and sufferings’ she endured throughout the journey.
“I am grateful for all the lovely wishes and prayers coming our way. Remember my little family in your prayers,” he concluded.
He had represented Pakistan in 30 Test matches, 52 ODIs, and 70 T20Is, with 115 wickets to his name in the longest format of the game.
Bangladesh pulled off a major upset as they registered their first-ever Test win over Pakistan, winning by 10 wickets in the inaugural Test. While Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel played scintillating tons for hosts in Rawalpindi, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shadman Islam batted through class acts of 191 and 93 respectively for Bangladesh.
This historic victory also represented a remarkable turnaround, with Bangladesh ending a 14-match streak against Pakistan that included 12 losses and just one draw. Building on this momentum, Bangladesh targets further Test wins over India and South Africa to complete its roster in the game’s longest format.
