Yang Min-hyuk signed for Tottenham this summer

Yang Min-hyuk has been turning a lot of heads with his performances in the K-League since making his debut at the start of this season. So far, the 18-year-old has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 28 league appearances Gangwon (Transfermarkt).

His performances understandably attracted quite a bit of interest from Europe and it was Spurs who seized upon the opportunity to land the player for a reported fee of around €4m (£3.3m).

Yang has been named in South Korea squad

Yang has now achieved another major milestone ahead of his big move to Europe, with the official South Korea X account confirming that he has been called up to the national side for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

South Korea will take on Palestine and Oman during the international break and the youngster will hope to get a chance to impress.

Tottenham fans got a glimpse of Yang when he took to the field in Seoul against them earlier this summer in a friendly for Team K League, where he showed his skill with a neat turn that left Emerson Royal in no man’s land.

Spurs Web Opinion

The call-up does not come as a surprise, given that Yang has been one of the best attacking players in the K-League this season.

It is undoubtedly a major achievement, given that he had not even made his debut until the start of the year and only turned 18 a few months ago.
