As the 2024 presidential race progresses, aides to former President Donald Trump are trying their best to keep him occupied and energized, per a new report from The Washington Post.

The Post, citing several anonymous sources, reported that Trump aides were concerned that he'd spend the days golfing and sulking while Vice President Kamala Harris soaked up the limelight at the Democratic National Convention.

As such, Trump aides have been keeping his schedule jam-packed with events to keep him busy and off the golf course, the sources told The Post.

Trump has also grown increasingly irritated with the positive coverage of his rival, Vice President Kamala Harris — particularly, reports that depict him as being less hardworking than she is, one source told The Post.

"President Trump has had a robust schedule since he first announced in November 2022," spokesman Steven Cheung told The Post, adding that the former president "spent the entire week discussing substantive policy."

Several allies have expressed concern about the GOP nominee's ability to stay on the right track when campaigning. Trump critic-turned-ally Sen. Lindsey Graham, for one, said on August 18 that Trump could lose the election if he keeps playing "the provocateur, the showman."

Trump's former rival, Nikki Haley, echoed Graham's sentiments in an interview on Fox News' "Special Report" on August 13.

"The campaign is not going to win talking about crowd sizes, it's not going to win talking about what race Kamala Harris is, it's not going to win talking about whether she's dumb," Haley said. "You can't win on those things."

Trump secured a small win on Friday when independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his presidential bid and threw his support behind Trump.

A representative for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
