DLP announces new spokespersons across key sectors

Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne announced the Democratic Labour Party’s (DLP) team of spokespeople who will be responsible for addressing a wide range of national issues. 

The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 69th Annual Conference at the DLP’s George Street headquarters. 

Thorne himself will handle finance, public sector matters and urban development, while former party leader Verla De Peiza will take on issues related to the Attorney General’s office and home affairs. 

Senator Ryan Walters has been assigned to energy, small business development, entrepreneurship, and housing. 

Dr David Estwick will cover economic affairs and life underwriter Alvin Toppin will focus on culture. Amoy Gilding Bourne on agriculture, acting president Andre Worrell will handle health and Andrew Cave on maritime affairs. 

Additionally, Felicia Dujon was named spokesperson for education, while Paul Gibson will speak on the environment and Pedro Shepherd, the DLP’s general secretary, will address matters of transport, public works, and rural development. 

Attorney at law Neil Marshall has been given the labour and industrial relations portfolio, Shaquanie Hunte will advocate on youth affairs, Simon Clarke for community development, and Dawn Marie Armstrong for sports. 

Former minister of tourism Richard Sealy will continue to be a voice on those issues.  

In his address, Thorne urged the team to fully commit to their roles and respond to the government on behalf of the people.
