MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A dog was found in a trash compactor at a Lower Manhattan NYCHA development Friday morning, according to the NYPD.

A person was cleaning the compactor when they found the dog alive in the machine around 10:50 a.m. at the Alfred E Smith Houses, according to police.

The pup was sent to an ASPCA to be treated, police said. A representative of the ASPCA told the New York Post the dog was euthanized due to its extensive injuries.

Police have not identified any suspects.
