Police fatally shoot man in East Harlem: NYPD
EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) – Police fatally shot a man they said was armed with a gun in East Harlem early Sunday morning, according to the NYPD.
Police found the 62-year-old with a gun in his hand near 103rd Street and Third Avenue, and told him “numerous” times to drop his gun, according to the NYPD. The man refused, then two officers shot at him, according to the NYPD.
The man was given emergency treatment at the scene and then taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.
A gun was recovered at the scene, and police do not believe there are any other people involved, police said.
Police said they responded to the scene after multiple reports of a male with a gun and ShotSpotter activations.
