Another hot day ahead, cooling down late this week
What We’re Tracking
- Hot again today
- Dry next several days
- Late week cooldown
A HEAT ADVISORY is in effect for all of Northeast Kansas for Sunday and Monday. Expect heat indices to be upwards of 110°.
Temperatures this morning are incredibly warm with lows in the upper 70s and lower 80s. We sit under a mostly clear sky with wind out of the south at 10-20 mph, not allowing us to cool off much.
Sunday will be sunny and hot. Heat index ranging up to 110 degrees with the heat advisory still in place. South winds continue to bring up warm, hot air on Sunday. Dew points in the lower 70s once again for tomorrow. It will be another hot, muggy and breezy afternoon.
A quiet weather pattern falls into place as a ridge of high pressure settles over the Midwest, allowing the heat to stick around early this week. During our stretch of hotter weather, winds looks to pick up from the south and southwest at 15-20 mph.
We'll see a gradually cooling trend throughout next week, seeing more middle 90s by Wednesday as our rain chances increase. Our best chance for scattered showers looks to be late Thursday and that will help us cool down into the lower 80s by Friday!
