Body found in Parkrose neighborhood sparks investigation

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Police are investigating after a body was found in Portland's Parkrose neighborhood early Sunday morning.

Just before 1 a.m., officers responded to a call that a body had been found in the 10700 block of Northeast Fremont Street.

Upon finding the body, police say they could not immediately identify the person as a man or woman, due to the state of the remains.

Rail traffic in that area of Northeast Fremont Street was closed for the duration of the investigation.

No further information, including the identity of the victim, has been released at this time.
