FEELS
FEELS is a minimalist home located in Bucharest, Romania, designed by Stefana Delia Costras. Rather than making a bold statement, this space serves as a subtle backdrop, allowing the rhythm of daily life to unfold organically, guiding its occupants without dominating the experience. While the design continues a contemporary tradition seen in many Bucharest interiors, the architects have skillfully reimagined familiar elements through a careful curation of furniture and materials. Their selections reflect the aesthetic and cultural essence of the city, from the Art Deco opulence of the past to the understated elegance of the present. The result is a space that nods to Bucharest’s design heritage, yet remains delicately restrained, allowing the objects and spaces to speak for themselves.
The inherent qualities of the existing structure have been thoughtfully enhanced, with wood accents and soft, comforting hues evoking a sense of domestic tranquility that transcends local trends, blending comfort and functionality. Key features, such as the mosaic staircase with its crisp white railing and the open areas that encourage circulation, air, and light, imbue the interior with a public, almost communal feel. This is artfully balanced by the softer, more intimate textiles, creating a harmonious interplay between durability and comfort. The choice of materials and the airy layout suggest a space designed to accommodate a variety of activities and guests, challenging traditional notions of domestic spaces. From the outset, the architects approached this project with an appreciation for the simplicity of the initial white, empty canvas, recognizing its potential and enhancing it through thoughtful design interventions.
