Fire shuts down roadway in central Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Fire Department is responding to a balcony fire at a residential building in the 3500 block of Speedway, the agency shared on social media Saturday night.

Speedway is shut down between 35th and 38th Streets as a result of the fire, per the post. Crews said the fire was reported on a third floor balcony and has since been knocked down.

Officials are asking the public to avoid the area.
