Amid polls, BJP states may copy new Unified Pension Scheme

The NDA government approved assured pensions for central employees, a move seen as a strategic nod ahead of assembly polls. Prime Minister Modi discussed the decision with the Joint Consultative Machinery, representing 32 lakh employees. The Union Cabinet also merged three science and technology schemes into one unified scheme called 'Vigyan Dhara' for greater efficiency.
