SEE THE FIRE (1.50 York, nap)

She has been in Group 1 company for her last three starts and was only just beaten in the Nassau at Goodwood last time.

This is a big drop in grade and she will relish the long straight on the Knavesmire.

The three-year-old can flash home late on to beat the boys under Oisin Murphy.

AUDIENCE (3.00 York, nb)

The powerful five-year-old pulled off one of the shocks of the season so far when he won the Group 1 Lockinge with a remarkable front-running display under Rab Havlin.

He was below par at Royal Ascot afterwards — but back to his best with a very easy win in Group 2 company at Goodwood.

Havlin should bomb him out of the stalls and he will be very difficult to catch.

MR LIGHTSIDE (4.45 York, treble).

The progressive two-year-old was a good third in the Molecomb at Goodwood and that form arguably sets the standard in this field.

His trainer Mick Appleby needs cheering up after his stable star Big Evs and Big Mojo both bit the dust yesterday.

Hopefully he’s looking on the Lightside of life this afternoon.

SEE THE FIRE has been keeping tough company this year and was only beaten a neck in the Nassau at Goodwood last time. This is much easier and there should be enough pace in this race to draw her into the contest. She can pass them all late.

Alynaabi ran crackers when fifth in both the 2,000 Guinea and the St James’s Palace at Royal Ascot. He didn’t quite get home over 1m2f behind Phantom Flight at Newbury and can reverse that form at this shorter distance. If he runs up to his best form, he will be in the thick of it.

Enfjaar ran a big race of an enormous weight in a Goodwood handicap last time. He’s worth a try stepped up in grade. Task Force hasn’t quite lived up to his potential but is an each-way candidate here.

TOO BOSSY FOR US ran a cracker at Haydock last time, coming from a long way back to only be collared in the closing stages. He remains totally unexposed and a 4lb rise won’t stop him going close again.

The Equator posted his best effort when fifth in a Group 2 at this trip at Royal Ascot. Topweight is never an easy task, but he has a touch of class and the first-time blinkers could be a big positive.

Tactician was good value for his Ascot win over two miles. He had a nightmare trip, but squeezed through late on to win. A 5lb rise is manageable but he would need this to be a real test to be seen to best effect.

Dramatic Star slipped badly on handicap debut at Haydock last time. He was well fancied that day and is worth another chance off what could be a lenient mark.

Reach High represents The King and was a good winner on his first try of the trip at Wolverhampton last time.

Imperial Sovereign’s improvement has stalled in Group races, but he goes handicapping off a fair mark and won’t be far away alongside Spaceport, who won with plenty to spare at Sandown last time.

AUDIENCE won the Lockinge on return and posted an even bigger figure when decimating a smart field in the Lennox at Goodwood. He’ll bound out from the stalls and the further they go, the stronger he’ll get under Rab Havlin. Kinross is very classy on his day and this is his trip, but he was no match for Audienceat Goodwood and was below his best the time before at Newmarket. This is easier though and he’ll be in the thick of it if anywhere near his peak. Lake Forest won last year’s Gimcrack at this track and has run some great races at six furlongs this year. He’ll suit a step up in trip and makes obvious appeal. Shouldvebeenaring is a smart sprinter and stays this trip well. He can’t be ruled out.

TABITI posted a big figure when landing a Newmarket maiden two weeks ago.

She created a big impression that day and is bred to be well above average for top connections. She will come forward from that and and Ralph Beckett’s string are in excellent form.

Merrily makes the trip over for Aidan O’Brien and has the experience edge, last seen finishing fourth in a Naas Listed race. She does need to improve, but given the yard she hails from, that isn’t impossible.

Anshoda bumped into one when out-running huge odds in a Sandown Listed race. She’s another who can surely improve, though the form of her yard is a big worry at present.

Royalty Boy was impressive in novice company before a close-up second in a French Group 3. She’s still improving and has a big shout, though firmer ground wouldn’t be ideal.

At a price, Duty First had plenty to spare at Ayr and Archie Watson has lots of success with similar types. She can out-run her odds under Hollie Doyle.
