New York State announces additional Free Fishing Day
NEW YORK STATE (WSYR-TV) -- An additional Free Fishing Day has been announced in New York State for Saturday, August 31. On Free Fishing Days, the requirement for a fishing license is waived for freshwater fishing in New York's waters.
There will be more Free Fishing Days in New York on September 28, National Hunting and Fishing Day, and November 11, Veteran's Day. While the requirement for a fishing license is waived on Free Fishing Days, all other fishing requirements will remain in place.
The Free Fishing Days program began in 1991 to give people a chance to try fishing for free. If you want to learn more about getting a fishing license, you can visit the Department of Environmental Conservation website.
