CNN's Jim Acosta hits back as Republican tries to dismiss Michael Cohen's effect on Trump
Lance Trover, the former spokesperson for Gov. Doug Burgum's (R-ND) presidential campaign, tried to make the case Friday that former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen was inconsequential.
CNN anchor Jim Acosta wasn't buying it.
"Well, first off, does anybody really care what Michael Cohen has to say?" Trover asked. "Find me one voter who really gives a damn what he thinks."
The comment echoed what Trump said when he tried to discount Cohen. The former lawyer attempted to cover for his boss in the early days of his presidency over hush money payments given to adult film actress and director Stormy Daniels, and ultimately served prison time on charges including tax evasion.
Since his release, he's been a vocal Trump opponent and was a key witness in Trump's recent criminal trial in New York, which resulted in conviction.

Cohen has written tell-all books, all of which ended up on the New York Times bestsellers list. Each book exposed things about the ex-president and his aides, both personally and legally. Cohen testified before Congress about Trump and has been cooperating with state and federal investigators and prosecutors and their respective grand juries for years.
Acosta met Cohen at the Democratic National Convention, and as they walked around the hall, Cohen "could not walk 10 feet without a Democrat coming up. I'm just saying that is what we witnessed," he told Trover.
"Well, of course. Of course. He hates Donald Trump," Trover said. "Everyone in that arena hates Donald Trump. Of course, they were. They were all on the same side."
