SUMMER may feel as though it’s coming to an end, but there’s still something to celebrate this bank holiday weekend – cheap pints.

While the days of the elusive £5 pint feel long gone, a new study reveals the top 10 cheapest Wetherspoons pints across the UK.

The cost of Carling, San Miguel, Guinness, Coors, Stella Artois, and Budweiser were calculated to rank which UK cities had the best pint per price.

Taking the crown is the city of Preston, Lancashire, offering pints for an average of £3.07, according to the data collected over 2023.

Ironically, the best place for pints is the city where the term ‘teetotal’ was rumoured to come from – although a total abstinence from all alcohol might be tricky with Coors coming in at £2.49 a pint.

For a banger of a price tag, of course, head to Bangor, Wales, which is the close runner up to Preston, missing out on the top spot by one penny, Bangor offers a pint for £3.08.

For a mere £2.58 for a Carling and Stella Artois for £3.61 the oldest city in Wales may also become the most popular.

Those looking to quench their thirst after exploring Snowdonia can also grab a Guinness for £3.09.

If you travel east for an hour an a half you reach our city awarded third place – Wrexham.

On the Welsh border you can pinch a pint for £3.11 in the area that was only granted city status two years ago.

If you’re seeking out a life of luxury and have a taste for the premium-priced pints, it’s time to take on Stoke-on-Trent where a San Miguel costs £3.61.

This is 21% cheaper than the average cost of a standard pint in London, according to the study.

The average pint in Stoke-on-Trent is £3.12, which is only 5p more than the lowest average.

Finishing up our top five is Sunderland, so if you fancy watching some footy with a pint that only costs £3.14 on average, it’s time to head to this famous port city for the bank holiday.

Despite Londoner’s complaining about the cost of living, and non-Londoners complaining about Londoners, there are some things we can all agree on.

There is nothing better than a pint that doesn’t rob you of your London living wage.

In the capital, a £7 pound pint is the grim reality but if you don’t fancy paying premium prices there are some places that might cost you just over the national average.

On the western periphery of the city, in top the top place in is Ealing, charging an average of £3.46.

You won’t just be at ogling the Whetherspoon’s carpet when you spot Coors for £2.79.

Coming in second place is the ever-popular inner borough of Hackney, which despite complaints of the area getting pricier, offers £3.71 for a pint.

Moving south we can award the bronze medal to Croydon which has an average pint of £3.75 and is the last London borough to stick safely under the £4 mark.

In spots fourth and fifth are Islington and Greenwich, which charge £4.11 and £4.70 respectively.

The price in Greenwich can still boast how it’s less than 10% higher than the London average identified despite being 39% higher than that national average.
