Future Stars returns with U14 & U18 categories
The Future Stars international junior tournament is back once against at Brunel University, West London from the 23-25th August.
Usually just an under-18 tournament, the event is boosted with an under-14 division for the first time, along with a historical veteran’s showcase between Kingston Kings from the iconic 1990/91 season and London Towers veterans from the late 1990s.
In the U18 category, the U18 England National Team will lock horns against last year’s runner-up Stella Azzurra (Italy), Porsche BBA Ludwigsburg (Germany), London United, and Ryan Richards’ WHO’S NEXT, select team combining US and UK players.
The Under 14 category will be contested by the U14 England National Team, Stella Azzurra (Italy), Platon Academy (Greece), and London United, comprising the best young players in this category in the Greater London Area.
“We are extremely proud of our event in providing the opportunity for UK based players to compete against top talent on home soil,” Emma Chambers, Managing Director at Future Stars said.
“It is very important for us that our event reaches further than ever. Adding the U14 category will allow very young British players to compete against top European players very early in their basketball careers. This definitely will affect very positively their entire development.”
In keeping with our Future Stars traditional format, the Junior Tournament will be accompanied by an International Coaching Conference taking place on the 24th August, with Euroleague and NBA Champion, Zan Tabak as the keynote speaker, delivering two separate lectures on “Individual interior game workout” and “Interior game team tactics”.
The coaching clinic, priced at £50 per head, will take place on Saturday 24th August at Brunel University, London, and will start at 09:00 to 13:00 and will run alongside the Future Stars International tournaments.
