Sports Briefs: Marin Academy, San Domenico open golf season with wins

Marin Academy and San Domenico both were winners as they hosted Convent and Drew at Peacock Gap on Thursday to tee off the girls golf season. The Wildcats defeated Convent, 189-225, while Drew forfeited the matches due to an injury. The Panthers bested Convent 199-225.

The players battled a ceaseless wind during their season opener. Sterling Colpitts and Elsa Anderson both shot 44s to lead Marin Academy, which also got a 45 from Piper Marmer. San Domenico’s Lola Hu shot a 46, followed by Mill Dawson’s 48.

The Panthers are scheduled to play Holy Names at Monarch Bay Golf Course on Tuesday.

Don Blayney won the DFL Cup at Peacock Gap recently with a match play victory over William Heidepriem in the finals. Blayney won 3 and 2.
