'Remarkable': Fox News host shocked Trump wasn't alerted to manhunt after death threat

A Fox News host was floored Thursday that former President Donald Trump wasn't informed of an ongoing manhunt in Arizona for a man who threatened his life.

When a reporter informed Trump there was a "manhunt" ongoing for a man who made threats against him, Trump said he hadn't been informed, but that he had "heard it's dangerous."

"I have a job to do. I heard it's very dangerous. I hadn't heard about that. They probably want to keep it from me. Thank you for telling me," he said with a chuckle.

"Let's get out of here right now," he joked.

After praising the Secret Service for their actions during the assassination attempt at a Butler, Pennsylvania, rally, Trump repeated that he hadn't heard about the manhunt, but was "not that surprised."

"The reason is I want to do things that are very bad for the bad guys. I have heard it's really unsafe to make this trip. There were some people who really didn't want me to make it."

Authorities in the state were searching Thursday for Ronald Lee Syrvud, 66, who threatened to kill the former president. According to AZFamily, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office said he recently threatened Trump's life.

Fox News host Neal Cavuto remarked on his show "Your World" that it was a "remarkable finding" that Trump told reporters he hadn't been informed, given the attempted assassination of him.

"It's serious enough that the FBI is also tracking this, but not leading any search, working in coordination with Secret Service and the Cochise County sheriff's office," said Cavuto.

Cavuto noted Trump was warned it would be dangerous, but had not been informed a man threatened to kill him.

"It was the first time he was made specifically aware at that event of that specific threat when a reporter asked him about it," said Cavuto.

Former FBI investigator Bill Daly told Cavuto he was "quite surprised" Trump hadn't been alerted prior to the event.

He pointed out the event was "fairly tightly contained" in a remote area near the border, and said "line of sight" such as the case Butler would be areas of concern, due to hillsides around the event.
