Shooting leaves one dead near Franklinton's Dodge Park

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Homicide detectives are investigating Thursday after a shooting left one person dead in Columbus' Franklinton neighborhood.

Columbus police dispatchers told NBC4 they sent officers at 1:26 p.m. to Sullivant Avenue and Skidmore Street on reportings of a shooting. The intersection borders Dodge Park.

Photos showed Columbus police set up crime scene tape at the scene. At least eight squad vehicles went to the area, and officers could be seen gathered around a parked car.

Emergency crews took one person to a local hospital in critical condition. Columbus police confirmed around 2:30 p.m. that the victim had been pronounced dead.

Columbus police did not have any information on a possible suspect to share as of 2:30 p.m., but did confirm its homicide unit had investigators at the scene.
