MEDINA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — A 50-year-old woman told police she was hit by a flying beer can during a Hulk Hogan tour event Monday evening, the Medina Township Police Department confirmed.
Officers were called to the Thirsty Cowboy on Medina Road at about 5:30 p.m. for a report of a woman who was bleeding from her head.
Fans had gathered to see the 71-year-old WWE legend Monday as part of the statewide launch of Hogan's Real American Beer brand when the incident occurred.
Upon arrival, police made their way through the crowd to a woman being assisted by her family and the venue's staff. They took her outside where EMS was able to dress the wound.
Police said it was not clear, after speaking to various witnesses, who had thrown the can. Some said Hogan threw the beer, while others said it was a member of his team "throwing beers from the stage like a 'baseball pitch.'" The victim did not see where the beer was thrown from, either.
The woman was transported to a local hospital. Her daughter told police she received nine stitches along her hairline. No one has been charged in the incident.
Hogan has been promoting his Real American Beer, which launched in June, at venues in Ohio this week.
