UK’s cheapest Michelin restaurant where you can dine like it’s 1994 for as little as £3.50

A MICHELIN Star restaurant has vowed to slash its prices next month where diners can eat for as little as £3.50.

St John in Smithfield, London, has cut prices on the menu for a limited time to reflect what people would have first paid when the restaurant originally opened in 1994.

The historical menu prices have been reinstated to commemorate the restaurant’s 30th birthday.

According to the St John restaurant website, the reduced price will only be available Monday to Friday during the 9th-27th September.

Described on its site as being at the “foremost proponents of nose-to-tail cooking” the eatery has a sustainable ethos which makes use of an entire animal.

This means that lucky guests will be able to try the roast bone marrow and parsley salad for only £4.20 from its original £16 during the celebration period.

Whilst a Welsh rarebit has been priced at a mere £3.50 and the Eccles Cake with Lancashire cheese will cost £4.

However, hopeful diners may be disappointed to discover that the entire occasion has sold out.

The Michelin Guide has described the St John group as having the ability to create a “joyful experience” with “very little ceremony”.

It also said: “This is the place to try new things.”

With the restaurant group having a total of three sites, bargain hunters might want to keep an eye out for the possibility of any future celebrations at the other locations.

This includes Bread and Wine on Commercial Street and another in Marylebone.
